Son of Henry and Ellen Elizabeth Burrows of Sundales, Warton, Carnforth, Lancashire.
1911 Census shows Henry was born in Overton, Lancashire and was living as a servant in Longpreston, his occupation showed farm labourer. By the time of the war he had been employed by Midland Railway in the locomotive department.
The 1901 census shows Henry J living in Morecambe with his parents Henry and Ellen and his siblings Arthur (10), Grace (7), Vincent (5), Emma (1).
